Build your career and future in Canada with confidence

At Great Start Canada Immigration, we help workers and employers navigate Canadian work permit pathways with personalized guidance, honest advice, and professional support tailored to their goals.

More than a Job Opportunity, a new beginning

It’s an opportunity to build stability, support loved ones, access new possibilities, and create a better future.

Canada’s strong economy, diverse industries, and multicultural environment continue to attract professionals from around the world looking for long-term opportunities and quality of life.

But navigating work permits and immigration pathways can quickly become overwhelming without the right guidance.

That’s why our team focuses on building personalized strategies designed around your professional background, long-term goals, and immigration opportunities.

Canadian Work Permit pathways

LMIA-Exempt Work Permits

International Mobility Program (IMP)

Certain Canadian work permits may be issued without requiring a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). These pathways are designed for situations where hiring a foreign worker provides recognized economic, cultural, or strategic benefits to Canada.

LMIA-exempt permits often provide greater flexibility and faster processing opportunities for qualified applicants and employers. For businesses seeking more efficient hiring solutions, these pathways can also help attract and retain international talent while supporting Canada’s long-term economic growth and competitiveness.

Common LMIA-Exempt Pathways

  • Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWP)
  • Intra-Company Transfers
  • Free Trade Agreement Work Permits
  • Open Work Permits
  • Specialized International Programs

Many of these pathways include international agreements such as CUSMA and other Free Trade Agreements involving countries like Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Panama.

These programs can help skilled professionals gain valuable Canadian work experience while strengthening future immigration opportunities.

Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP)

Some employers may require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to hire foreign talent when qualified Canadian citizens or permanent residents are not available for a specific role.

Through this process, employers demonstrate a legitimate labour market need while foreign workers obtain authorization tied to a specific position and employer.

A positive LMIA issued by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) confirms that hiring a foreign worker is necessary to fill the role and that no suitable Canadian workers are currently available.

Once approved, the foreign worker may apply for a work permit linked to the approved employer and job position, while complying with all applicable LMIA and work permit conditions.

At Great Start Canada, we help employers and workers navigate LMIA applications, documentation requirements, compliance obligations, and work permit strategies with clarity and confidence.

I applied for permanent residency on my own, but due to a lack of knowledge, I didn't include all the necessary information and documents, and my application was returned. From the very first appointment with Daniel, he was incredibly helpful! Daniel and Jeannette were a great support. They work very quickly and explain each part of the process very clearly. Daniel decided to include extra documents and information in my application to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Thank you so much for your support! Now all that's left is to wait for approval!! 🙂
